Mama Kelly
Mama Barbara Ann Suoko Kelly was half Finnish ( Vasa ) and half Austrian ( Tyrol ).
She and Dan made this big family, and they wouldn't be where they are and who they are if it wasn't for them.
It is said that Barbara was born on the 2nd of April 1946 but no one knows for sure.
Barbara Ann was a beautiful ballerina, a dance she would pass on to her children.
She came with Dan Kelly to Spain first as a babysitter for the 4 children but very fast Dan and her fell in love.
After marrying Dan at a young age she starts giving birth to one child after an other.
Mama spends her days taking care of her children, she is a very quiet woman, but very loving.
1981 Mama Barbara gets ill of cancer. The family goes back to Spain after their tour, because they want Mama's last months to be in peace.
Paddy, which then was 4 years old, remembers that each Sunday they would go for a picnic at the river.
Barbara's condition is stabile and she is pregnant again, she gives birth to her last child Angelo Gabriele Kelly. She was too sick to have a natural birth, so he came by operation.
On the 7th of November she asked her children to sing her a last song, and it was the last song.
The 10th of November 1982 there is sadness over the family in Belascoain. Their mother has passed away.
A Spanish woman that attended at the funeral has said "As the casket was lowered into the ground the children screamed and cried hysterically, it was horrible, it was the worst experience in my life!!!!!!
Up on a hill by the church they buried her, the text on the gravestone says... Barbara Kelly/10.November 1982/mother of forte/all with her mother/all the children of the world/.
There are 14 hand painted hearts on the gravestone and then follows a message from Dan " All my sufferings of my whole body to her sacrifice ".
All the Kelly children have written their names in the grave, with their naked fingers.
And there is a ballerina sculpture made by one of the children.
